Contemporary Garden Design

Client Brief

Extensive redesign of a large garden in South Dublin with unrestricted, breath-taking views of Dublin Bay and Howth Head.

Our client wanted a garden that would be the ultimate lifestyle asset for him and his family. Our brief was to incorporate a cooking space, dining area, a bar and extensive lawns and new plants and bedding into the existing space in a very contemporary style.

Project details

In January 2016 we enlisted the design skills and expertise of Stephen Paul Reilly of Greenes UK to design the layout of the garden to include all of the above. We then submitted his layout design and design schedule to several landscapers and the successful tender commenced work in late February.

A full list of works that were completed to this stunning garden:

  • New grey granite paving in balcony and external courtyard area
  • Update of internal courtyard area to included new bulkhead with galvanised crosshatch spotlights, shiplap cladded walls and white floor board style tiling
  • New iron railings in balcony and a new gate to section off courtyard to the lawn modelled on an old-style farm gate
  • Pergola framed structures draped with climbers to line the path down to the bottom of the garden
  • Scandinavian styled Hot Tub complete with stove and woodpile
  • Cedar cladded pergola structure overhanding paved cooking station which contains a fire pit and smoker
  • New decking area overlooking the harbour with new sea railings – tensile wire structures on steel poles so that nothing detracts from the view.
  • Fully fitted bar within existing shed to include beer fridge, freezer and space for kegs and wine fridge.
  • Large 12ft x 8ft pitched roofed shed with attached outside shower. Shed is large enough to fit 2 Sea Kayaks and hang wetsuits etc.
